JM: The Kansas City Royals have been pretty disappointing in 2026. Almost a third of the way through the season, they are 20-30 and a half a game out of last place in their division. Yikes.

The season is not over, but it will be very difficult to come back from this poor start. Maybe if they go another off-season doing absolutely nothing to improve the team, they will be better in 2027. <snicker>
JM: This may not have been the biggest faux pas in the history of live television, but it was right up there as one of the biggest. Survivor held a fire-building challenge between two contestants to determine who would make the three-person final. Before they showed it, they wentto the studio where they were broadcasting the live finale, and host Jeff Probst called the eventual loser of the challenge to the stage and interviewed him. He eventually told the contestant to take his spot on the jury, revealing that he lost the challenge, and a stunned live audience reacted with a gasp. At first, Jeff didn’t realize what he did. Another contestant told him, “They didn’t show the fire-making challenge yet!” Oops. I’ve never seen anything quite like that. I’m sure Survivor will survive.
JM: I have been to the Heart Attack Grill with my kids and my parents. They had a deal: if you didn’t finish your sandwich, you would be punished. The punishment was a paddle spanking by one of the waitresses. The burgers were huge and difficult to finish. I finished mine, but my son and daughter did not, so they got paddled in front of the entire restaurant. It was all in good fun. The Heart Attack Grill was down on Fremont Street in Las Vegas. The owner has vowed to reopen in another location. Many restaurateurs are struggling to keep going with rising costs of goods and services. Salaries still have not caught up with the high inflation we have had over the last five years.
JM: Can you believe they are holding a UFC event on the lawn of the White House? John McCain must be rolling over in his grave. McCain wanted to legislate the ban of MMA-style fighting. Guess that didn’t work out for him.
JM: Happy 74th birthday, Mr. T!
JM: A new movie about the Battle of the Bulge based on a true story? Yes, please! The trailer looks pretty good. Can’t wait to see this movie.
