From The Couch – No More Schlitz/Teslas Don’t Float/Don’t Play With That Sword, Kid/And More….

Your notable news for May 20th, 2026….

JM: Better get your Schlitz while you still can. It will be a collector’s item. A buddy of mine found a case of Schlitz bottles a while back, he bought it, and we sat in my Mom and Dad’s driveway drinking it. We had to include my Dad, because according to him, Pabst is the best beer ever made. Hey, Schlitz is not bad beer. It can’t be if it lasted 177 years. Tell me I’m wrong.

JM: You’ve gotta be Schlitzin’ me. This guy must have really trusted this feature on his Tesla. The driver was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle in a closed section of a park and lake, as well as multiple water safety equipment violations. You may think that this guy isn’t too bright, but he had friends in the car with him when he tried it. Not sure what their collective IQ is.

JM: “First-grader Henrik Refsnes Mørtvedt, 6, was on a class trip to Norway’s Innlandet county, a vast expanse of untamed wilderness and jaw-dropping mountain ranges, when he made the unusual find as the group made their way across a field.” I am sure this will end up in a museum somewhere, but does the kid at least get a finder’s fee?

JM: I thought this article from the Babylon Bee was funny. Because it’s true. Hey, we all have pet peeves, and this is one of mine…

JM: I hope my obituary doesn’t start with saying “trailblazing straight, white guy dies.” This reminded me of the Norm MacDonald bit about gay pride being an achievement. If you haven’t seen it, it’s pretty funny….

Perhaps the headline writer could have pointed out his many years working in Congress on financial issues instead of what they did.

It also reminded me of when Rush Limbaugh was on the Donahue show a long time ago. Rush was always critical of Barney Frank because he opposed his policies and thought he was a bad politician. Donahue and others on the left misrepresented Limbaugh’s criticism as being homophobic or anti-gay when, in fact, he was criticizing his policies. Here’s a clip of Rush on the Donahue show where they discussed this….

JM: I had no idea that Ray Romano made and still makes that much money off of that show. $18 million a year in residuals? Holy smokes. I’ve never seen a full episode of “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Just clips here and there. Pretty crazy.
