Did I get your attention? Remember the old bit from “The Man Show” starring Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel? They ended every episode with girls jumping on trampolines. I imagine Carollla wouldn’t mind still doing a bit like that, but Kimmel has gone too “woke” to do it now. Heck, the guy used to dress in blackface and make fun of Karl Malone. There is no way he would get away with that bit anymore.
What made me think of that? You’ll have to wait until the end of this column to find out. First, the news of the day…
JM: I saw this story and think it is a fantastic idea. From the GoFundMe page:
Birthday Brightness is an organization that brings joy to children inpatient at Children’s Mercy on their birthdays. In partnership with Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and its Child-Life program, we create personalized and magical birthdays for patients, ranging from themed surprises to individualized gifts and heartfelt cards on their special day.
Birthday Brightness was established after founder Sami Tolliver, who’s been fighting a life-threatening illness and a patient at Children’s Mercy for almost four years now, recently spent her 17th birthday inpatient. Sami has endured countless unimaginable health challenges throughout these years and considers this hospital her second home. She explains, “She cannot even express how special Children’s Mercy and Child Life made that day for her. Their impact on me throughout my health journey, especially that day, has inspired me to start my own organization, in hopes of supporting them to continue and expand this amazing tradition. This hospital has done so much for me; I don’t think it would ever be possible to repay them, but all I want to do is be able to give back.”
Sounds like a great cause to me. Click the link to donate.
JM: Good, we are back to calling it “Arrowhead Stadium.” I never called it “GEHA Field” anyway. I noticed that they still haven’t changed their X handle from “@GEHAField” though. Hmm.
JM: Apparently, the twenty-dollar burrito complaint came from college students at a Turning Point USA event. Did these kids not realize that when they begged for a minimum wage increase to 15 dollars an hour, the cost of these fast food products would increase incrementally as a result? And why are they buying a twenty-dollar burrito anyway? I think I’d go to the grocery store and buy the ingredients and make my own at that point.
JM: So this dude walked down the street to his neighbor’s house to complain about the noise and decided to shoot two people in the head? As I wrote yesterday, it’s a strange world we live in.
JM: This might be an interesting movie, assuming they did it right and with Chris Hansen’s blessing. I consider Hansen an American hero because of his “To Catch a Predator” series. He also has a podcast that I find very enjoyable to listen to. You can check it out on YouTube or the audio version on your favorite podcast platform. He is still running stings to catch sexual predators even though they aren’t broadcast on NBC anymore.
JM: Do we really need a “Grown Ups 3?” The second one was pretty terrible. That said, I’ll probably watch it at some point!
JM: A buddy of mine sent me this video and said, “I think I’m a fan of soccer now.” This video is what reminded me of “girls jumping on trampolines.” The video has over 915,000 views on X. That’s only slightly more than the number of people who will read this column. 🙂
