I heard a clip from Kentucky Congressman James Comer today, speaking about the SAVE Act and voter ID, calling out some Republican Senators for being weak on the issue.
JM: I have heard that 87% of the American people would like to have voter ID become law. Not 87% of Republicans or 87% of Democrats. 87% of everyone. The fact that the Senate cannot pass this bill is ridiculous. It is something that the people want. I agree with Comer. It shows weakness that some U.S. Senators refuse to get on board with it. It is almost impossible to get 87% of the American people to agree on anything, and when they finally do, the U.S. Senate is unable to get a common-sense bill like this passed. Crazy.
JM: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis narrowly defeated Andrew Gillum for the Governorship in 2018. The vote was 4,076,186 for DeSantis and 4,043,723 for Gillum, a difference of approximately 33,000 votes. Since losing that election, Gillum has had a couple of run-ins with the law. On March 13, 2020, fire rescue crews responded to a call at Room 1107 of the Mondrian South Beach hotel in Miami Beach regarding a suspected drug overdose. Three men were present: Andrew Gillum, Travis Dyson, and Aldo Mejias, who had rented the room and called 911. Dyson was experiencing difficulty breathing and vomiting, while Gillum was found in the bathroom, initially unresponsive and heavily intoxicated. Police recovered three small bags of suspected crystal methamphetamine from the room, along with other prescription drugs, but no arrests or criminal charges were filed. On July 2nd, Gillum was arrested on drug possession charges in Alabama after police say they pulled him over for erratic driving and found marijuana and meth in his vehicle.
Apparently, Gillum never learned his lesson from the first incident. It’s kind of scary that this guy was so close to becoming the Governor of Florida. Stay away from the meth, kids.
JM: Jesse is right. “Stuff” costs what it costs, and you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. Inflation during the Biden years crippled the economy, and people are still suffering from high prices. Salaries still haven’t kept pace with inflation. Unfortunately, complaining about it on social media won’t help. Trust me, I know.
JM: I run a bunch of breakrooms with snacks, food, and drinks like this for my company. Some of them have multiple kiosks, and they all have cameras, as this one did. I don’t know why the company didn’t trust the guy who actually paid for the cookie. I have had clients who were forced to fire people after being caught stealing on the cameras. However, this was a huge misunderstanding over just $1.95. There may be more to the story here.
JM: What a strange story. Two parents get high at a Super Bowl party and let their 18-month-old child wander into the pool and almost drown. Then a doctor pronounces the child dead at the hospital, and the parents are forced to say goodbye. Five hours later, the medical examiner in the morgue says, “Wait, the child is still alive and breathing?” What kind of incompetent hospital is this? Or what kind of incompetent doctor pronounced the child dead? The article seems to indicate that no disciplinary action will be taken against the doctor. The parents aren’t quite so lucky. It appears they are both in big trouble.
JM: Have you ever watched a more disappointing soccer game? I haven’t. Belgium dominated a U.S. Soccer team that had played pretty well up until yesterday. Just one more example of why it is difficult to get excited about this sport.
JM: Have you ever seen the Nate Bargatze as George Washington skits on Saturday Night Live? They are hilarious. Here is a sampling…
