I haven’t had Netflix for quite a while but recently signed up for a 30 day trial so I could watch the Breaking Bad feature “El Camino.”  I liked the movie and it was a decent way to wrap things up for Jesse Pinkman and “Breaking Bad.”  The 30 day trial allowed me to check out what else was on Netflix since I hadn’t been a subscriber for a while.

I had heard people talk about the show “Stranger Things,” but since I wasn’t a Netflix subscriber I didn’t really pay much attention to it at the time.  So I finally decided to check it out.  There are three seasons of eight episodes and I guess you could say I binge watched it since I finished all three seasons within a couple of weeks.

I was really hooked on the show from the beginning because it is set in the early 1980’s and it is a throwback to science fiction and horror shows and movies of the time.  To me it is really a cross between “The Goonies” and “The X-Files.”  “The Goonies” is still one of my favorite movies and “The X-Files” is one of my favorite television shows ever.  I think the show is very well done and it kept me interested from episode to episode.  Sometimes I wondered if I am really their target audience because there is a lot of teen romance and drama in the show, but I don’t really care.  The science fiction/government conspiracy/monster angles kept me plenty engaged in the story.

Spoiler alert:  I was really sad when they killed off one of my favorite characters at the end of season three.  The good thing is that they are making a season four and there are rumors he is returning to the show.  His “death” was kind of ambiguous and they never did find his body, so there may be a way to bring him back.

Anyway, I’m curious to hear what all you Stranger Things fans think of the show.  As usual, I’m a bit late to the game on this but I’m happy I discovered it.
