From The Couch – Skydiver Plane Tragedy Is Heartbreaking

Twelve people are dead after a skydiving plane crashed in Butler, Missouri, on Sunday morning, according to Bates County Emergency Management.

Dennis Jacobs, director of Bates County Emergency Management, said that 11 people aboard the plane were skydivers and the other person was the pilot. The plane, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as a Pacific Aerospace P750, crashed Sunday, June 14, just after takeoff from Butler Memorial Airport in Butler, Missouri, about 65 miles south of Kansas City. The plane took off but struggled to climb. It tried to make a rough turn before crashing to the horror of those watching. The plane wasn’t able to get much more than 100 feet off the ground.

The plane was owned by Skydive Kansas City. The company had another crash in 2024, but everyone survived. We are still waiting for a list of all of the victims, but I saw on Facebook that one of the victims is Jen Sharp, an experienced instructor. She graduated from K-State in 1994, two years before I did.

JM: Thoughts and prayers to all friends and family members of those who died in the crash.

JM: This is good news, but I will still believe it when I see it. I will be even more surprised if Iran sticks to whatever deal they sign.

JM: I watched the trailer for the Netflix remake of “Little House on the Prairie” to spare you the trauma. Do we really need a “woke” version of this show? Hell no! Here are a couple of quotes from People.com that will probably convince you to avoid wasting your time on this show.

“Little House on the Prairie Reboot Will Introduce a Brand-New Perspective to Laura Ingalls’ Beloved Family Story.”

“The series is a “fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical Little House books” that “offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”

“The new adaptation will introduce a new perspective to the age-old story by including the narrative of the Indigenous communities in the arc of the Ingalls family. “If you’re going to tell the story, then you need to tell both sides.”

No, thank you.

JM: I almost didn’t click on this video, but I did and found it really cool. UFC fighters teaching their techniques to FBI agents. Looks and sounds like a win-win to me.

JM: If you are not proud to be an American, then what are you proud of? Serious question. Can’t you find anything to be proud of as an American? What about the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy? What about the northern army that freed the slaves during the Civil War? What about our free system as a Constitutional Republic? I suppose 71% of Democrats have the right not to be proud of the United States, but I would really like to know why.

JM: I think Buzz Patterson said it all right there. The last person who should be critical about the White House or any President is Hillary Clinton.

JM: How does one “man” get 34 White Claws down his gullet? I can’t get three sips down my gullet without gagging. The only thing more embarrassing than blowing a .17 during a DUI stop is admitting that you drank 34 White Claws to get there. Yikes!

JM: The older I get, the truer this becomes.

JM: Who knows, it may just be worth it to go to one of these World Cup games for the people watching if nothing else!
