From The Couch – JCCC Wins The National Championship

JM: Johnson County Community College won the Juco national championship, its first in school history. They finished with a 67-3 record, had a 41-game winning streak, and broke the college baseball record for home runs in a season with 219. That’s a little over three home runs per game. Wow! Can the Royals pick up any of these hitters?

JM: I haven’t watched 60 Minutes in a long time. Any changes that Nick Bilton wants to make to the program would probably be welcome to most of us. Have these people still not realized that catering your “news” to only half of the country doesn’t work?

JM: I have heard of the show “Entourage,” but have never watched it. And I wasn’t aware of show creator Doug Ellin until now. I don’t think that Spencer Pratt is going to win the Los Angeles mayor race, but he is sure creating quite the buzz. The primary is today, so we should have the results tonight. The top two finishers will go head-to-head in a runoff this fall. Unless someone gets at least 50% of the vote, which is unlikely. I don’t understand why many of our cities went soft on crime, but I applaud Doug Ellin for saying something about it.

JM: I stumbled upon the movie based on this story,”Jerry & Marge Go Large,” last night. It stars Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening. Rainn Wilson is also in it and has a neat part as the gas station attendant they befriend. Check it out if you get a chance. I found it on Paramount Plus.

JM: Have you been following the story of the disappearances and bizarre deaths involving experts and government employees working at some of the most secretive US national security facilities? I haven’t closely followed it until I read the article about Melissa Casias. This is a strange story that Fox Mulder and Dana Scully of The X-Files would investigate if it were fiction. But it is real. Let me know what you think.

JM: Ironic that the guy who calls Donald Trump and Republicans “Nazis” would endorse a “Nazi sympathizer,” huh?

JM: That Graham Platner seems like a real loser. Guess he’s perfect for politics.

JM: What kind of movie would you think Travis Kelce would produce? A sports movie? A football movie? Action Adventure? Raunchy comedy? Nope. It’s a documentary called “Jean-Michel,” about the late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who died in 1988 at the age of 27. Here is the description: “Thirty-eight years after his death, Jean-Michel Basquiat is everywhere. From T-shirts and watches to the most prestigious museums in the world, the artist’s street art-inspired style has never been so visible. Ironically, however, the more Basquiat’s popularity and influence grow, the easier it is to lose sight of the person behind the paintings. To correct this, Quinn Whitney Wilson and Viridiana Lieberman’s new documentary “Jean-Michel” goes back to the source for an intimate glimpse into the private life of one of the 20th century’s most iconic artists through the eyes of two of the people who knew him best: His sisters Lisane and Jeanine Basquait.

I think I’ll be skipping this one.
