Ben Jones, most famously known as “Cooter” from the television series “The Dukes of Hazzard” died yesterday at the age of 84. “The Dukes of Hazzard” was my favorite TV show as a kid. I had all the cars, play sets, and anything else you can think of associated with the show. The theme song from the show has always been the ringtone on my phone. I never met Ben, but by all accounts he was a great guy, who also served two terms in Congress. He made frequent appearances on Kansas City radio and hosted an annual “DukesFest” event for a long time.

In other weekend news, the WNBA is in the news again for all the wrong reasons…
JM: I’ve never heard of this DiJonai Carrington person, but take a look at the play and decide if this had anything to do with basketball or was an attack on a white player…
JM: At the very least, it was a dirty play, and she could have seriously injured Sophie Cunningham. Carrington got kicked out of the game, immediately went to the locker room, and posted “white privilege” like the only reason she got kicked out was that she is black and Cunningham is white. That is a completely ridiculous thing to say.
JM: Assault and battery is right! Carrington wasn’t going for the ball. She was trying to injure another player. Cunningham got a mouthful of blood just for trying to make a layup.
JM: There are a bunch of deranged, racist, lunatics in this league. This is just the latest in a long line of unnecessary attacks against Sop[hie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark. I’m sick of talking about the WNBA, but they keep making the news for ridiculous incidents that have nothing to do with basketball.
I saw another strange sports story over the weekend. This one has to do with major league baseball, but it has nothing to do with the play on the field….
JM: I don’t know where I stand on this one. Rules are rules, but I think since the lady was only 66 seconds late and the usher told her the wrong way to go, the Brewers should have gone ahead and paid her the $13,000. It would have been worth it to avoid the negative publicity. These baseball teams make so much money that 13 grand is like pocket change to the rest of us. What do you think?
JM: I saw this post and wondered what kind of idiot is posting about politics when he doesn’t know that Rand Paul is a doctor. I clicked over to John Pavlovitz’s profile. It took me about 10 seconds to realize that this guy belongs in a straitjacket in a loony bin. All he does is constantly post lies about President Trump and Conservatives. Constantly throughout the day. And he inexplicably has over 381,000 followers. Unreal. John needs to go outside, touch some grass, and get some fresh air. Good grief. He deleted his post after being called out. Figures.
JM: I drive through Overland Park, Kansas, daily for work, and the number of homeless people and beggars has grown exponentially over the last several years. I guess the police are unwilling or unable to do anything about it. I know this isn’t only a problem in Overland Park. It is happening in many cities around the country. I definitely don’t have a solution to the problem, but I found it interesting that others are taking notice.
JM: Could you imagine walking out to your backyard for a swim and finding a bear in your pool? We don’t have bears here in Kansas. Maybe this is more common than I think. It’s not at all common here, however!
