Stories Behind The Photos – The Branson Duck Boat

The picture above was taken in October, 2008, when we took the kids to Branson and experienced the duck boat tour.  It was the third picture that I ever loaded to Facebook and the first not including profile pictures.  It shows up in my Facebook memories occasionally, reminding me of that day.

The Branson duck boats were shut down after the tragedy on July 19th, 2018 that killed 17 people during a thunderstorm in which the boat capsized and sank.  I saw an article recently that the duck boats are making a comeback this spring with new boats that are “newer and safer” and “unsinkable.”  Unsinkable?  They said the same thing about the Titanic.

It’s a bold move bringing the duck boat tours back.  Would you go on it?  If I ever stepped on the new boat, I don’t think I could get that tragedy out of my head the entire time onboard.  So I think I’ll probably pass.
